My career spans 15 years in the Life Assurance, Savings and Investments sector managing branches in the South West of England, followed by starting and running my own marketing company which I sold in 2003. Having grown up in Kenya, my boyhood dream was to be a game ranger. In 2004 I fulfilled my dream by purchasing a cattle ranch in South Africa to re-establish as a game reserve for endangered antelope. Having set up the reserve and successfully breeding Sable, Oribi and other species we returned to the UK and settled in Somerset.

My attention was drawn to funeral plans having seen the problems, hardship and arguments that can be caused within families when a death occurs without any planning in place.
Investigating the market I discovered numerous companies offering an assortment of plans with a variety of benefits – and pitfalls. When I contacted the companies, all told me how great their plans were but were not so forthcoming with the pitfalls. Of course, none told me their plan was not suitable for me and that I should purchase from another company. This led me to wondering how many people were being sold plans that were not suited to their needs and paying too much.
I am now an independent broker and a member of the Best Funeral Plans Research Group. In the absence of an official Regulatory Authority the group monitors the market and provides members access to the leading and specialist companies providing prepaid funeral plans. I am a firm believer in offering a choice to clients, and being a member of the Research Group ensures I can offer the correct plan to cater for clients’ needs and budget.
I am introduced to clients through recommendations, professional legal advisors, charities, speaking at public meetings and local media.
I can supply information and a questionnaire by post, email or a home visit to help clients understand the options available. The answers provided by the questionnaire will allow me to select and recommend the most suitable plan from leading and specialist companies to match the needs and budget of the client.
I offer free home visits by appointment (dependent on distance) and encourage a family member, friend or attorney to be present at the appointment.
The service is totally transparent and free of pressure selling. After recommending a plan I will explain the benefits, the payment details, the cancellation options, and answer any questions in detail.
I am available to provide light-hearted introductory talks at coffee mornings and club meetings (dependent on distance). Audiences have found these helpful in highlighting the implications of their eventual parting with regard to a funeral and some of the problems that can be overcome by planning now. There is no charge for these talks.
I do not charge a fee. I am recompensed by the companies.
The plan may be paid for in full or by instalments. If paid by instalments a minimum deposit of £250 is required. All payments are made direct to the Trust Fund of the plan provider for your protection.
